In an exclusive story by British Newspaper, The Sun, it has been revealed that Xbox Live Users in the UK and around the World are being scammed out of anything from £100 to £200, after being victims of phishing scams.
In one such scam, Xbox Live Users are told they can earn free Microsoft Points by going to a website and entering their details. Using these details, accounts are accessed, credit card details are taken and over the next few weeks, small amounts of money are taken bit by bit, totally the sums mentioned above.
Another approach, taken by fraudsters, is to befriend Players online and manipulate them into revealing their personal details.
Staff at Microsoft have reportedly been working to stop such thefts and have offered refunds to victims that can prove they didn’t intentionally reveal their passwords.
Remember, if an offer sounds too good to be true, it usually is and Xbox Live Users have been advised to change their passwords.
