Sony have today revealed what the third batch of Gran Turismo 5 DLC will contain, whilst rumours about what the next Update will contain have surfaced.
There will be another Car Pack, plus a “Speed Test Pack”, which includes a test track that will enable Drivers to test the performance of their car and get statistics back.
Test Track – Route X

Route X will record various performance levels of the cars you choose to drive on it, including:
* Time Over 400 Metres
* Time Over 1000 Metres
* Time From 0-100 km/h
* Time From 0-200 km/h
* Maximum Speed Over The Track
* Maximum G-Forces Over The Track
Car Pack Three
Polyphony Digital have released two Car Packs so far and I have to admit to not being interested in either of them, as they featured Racing Cars and what I viewed to be updated duplicates of existing cars in the game.
Car Pack 3 will also do this to an extent, but amongst the duplicates and slight variations, there are a couple of jewels.
* Nissan Leaf G 2011
* Aston Martin V12 Vantage – 2010
* Volkswagen Beetle 1200 – 1966
* Jaguar XJR-9 LM Racecar – 1988
* Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 – 2011
* Mini Cooper S Countryman (R60) – 2011
Most sadly, I don’t think the cars included in this Car Pack will convince me to buy this DLC either though. At the end of the day, although I’d like to own the Aston and the Lamborghini, I can’t justify spending my money on six cars, when I only really want two of them.
There was some hope, when I saw Jaguar XJR, but then I realised it isn’t the Classic Car, but rather just a Premium Version of a Standard that’s already in the game.
Both the Jaguar XJR-9 and the Volkswagen Beetle are featured in the game as Standards, so all you’re really paying for is the upgrade to Premium and since I’m not that interested in either of these cars as Standards, they’re not something I’m interested in.
Although the Nissan Leaf is a completely new addition to the game, both my friends and myself are still trying to work out why they’d spend time and resources on this car?
When it comes to the Mini, there are already a number of them in the game. Although it’s classed as a Crossover SUV, I can’t help feeling all you’re really paying for is another variation. Unless you’re particularly fanatical about Minis, this doesn’t offer Players very much at all.
The two shining lights, I believe, of this Car Pack are the Lamborghini Aventador and the Aston Martin V12 Vantage.
In the stock game, Polyphony Digital provided only a single Aston Martin in the Premium Dealership, the DB9 and a lot of fans picked up on that, so the inclusion of a second Premium Aston Martin in the dealership is obviously welcome news. The Lamborgini Aventador is a great car. A lot of Gran Turismo Players, including myself, have talked about how it’s one of the ones we’d like to see in future DLC but didn’t know how possible that would be, so it’s great that we’ll finally be able to have it.

Still, as I said earlier, I don’t really want to pay full price for a pack of 6 Cars, when I actually only want two of them. So it seems, for the third time out of three, I’m not interested in what they have to offer in terms of cars.
Having said that, Route X does look interesting and at the right price, I’d consider buying it.
The inclusion of the Lamborghini Aventador and the Aston Martin V12 Vantage finally show that Polyphony Digital could be on the right track, but the fact they continue to include cars that no one cares about, but are expected to pay for, clearly shows they’re not there yet.
Sony’s Asia website say that the “Route X Test Track” and “Car Pack 3″ will be available from January 18th. We’re not able to confirm international release dates at this time, though they may be the same. Confirmation will follow.
Version 2.03 Update
Although yet to be confirmed, some of the features of Version 2.03 COULD be the following:
* New themes for My Home in GT Mode.
* An option for tire wearing in Pit Strategy (B-spec).
* Simulates regenerative braking on electric cars.
* Chaparral 2J Race Car ’70: Fan down force option.
* Fixed unintended pit stop error in the final lap of a B-spec race.
* 12 new colors and 12 new wall papers for My Home theme.
* Electric cars run slowly without applying acceleration.
* Regenerative braking affects the cruising distance.
If there are any more details about the DLC, or the Version 2.03 Update, we’ll of course be updating this article.
